Kachama Banda - Field Ecologist and Education Coordinator, Zambian Carnivore Programme
ACLN Cohort 4
Who is someone who's inspired your leadership, and why?
My Father was the first person I really saw lead not only our family but our community. His leadership has a lot to do with how I am one today.
What motivates you to do your job?
The animals I work to protect and conserve and the people. Knowing wildlife and people have always interacted and will always do. And, the fact that humanity exists and has always been rooted with the natural world.
What piece of advice would you give to an aspiring leader in African conservation?
That at at the core of leadership is one's ability to lead themselves first. Embracing change, growth and evolution but still remaining true to your values. And, last but not least, to not be afraid to do what has never been done before.
