Carolyn Gilbert is a collaborator and connector with grant writing and development experience on behalf of Africa-focused environmental organizations. At Maliasili, she fosters long-term, trust-based partnerships with funders and facilitates internal systems for grant management.
Before joining Maliasili, Carolyn was a Business Development Specialist for a USAID contractor’s Environment Team, focused on nature-based solutions, conservation, and land tenure projects in East and Southern Africa as well as a US public health nonprofit working in Africa and Asia.
Carolyn is passionate about how her fundraising and writing skills can unlock resources on behalf of local conservation experts who are poised to make the best impact for both the environment and people.
She resides in her home state of Vermont, where she also serves on the Vermont Land Trust board. Carolyn has a bachelor’s in International Studies from Macalester College and master’s in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies from The London School of Economics. In her free time, she likes to telemark ski, hike with her dogs, and officiate lacrosse.
