Rwanda Wildlife Conservation Association (RWCA) works to protect Rwanda’s endangered species through innovative conservation approaches that engage local communities. Their work combines scientific research with practical conservation actions to protect some of Rwanda’s most threatened wildlife.
RWCA implements multiple programs including: species monitoring and protection; habitat conservation; community education; and sustainable livelihood initiatives. They work closely with local communities to develop conservation strategies that protect wildlife while supporting community development.
The organization has achieved significant conservation successes, helping protect endangered grey crowned cranes and other threatened species while building strong community support for conservation. Their work has demonstrated effective approaches to species conservation in one of Africa’s most densely populated countries.
