Mount Kenya Trust works to protect Mount Kenya’s unique ecosystem through innovative conservation approaches that benefit both wildlife and local communities. Operating around Africa’s second-highest mountain, they focus on preserving critical water catchments, protecting wildlife corridors, and supporting sustainable resource use.
The organization implements multiple programs including: forest protection and restoration; human-wildlife conflict mitigation; community outreach and education; and sustainable agriculture initiatives. Their work combines hands-on conservation action with community development to create lasting positive impacts for both people and nature.
Since its establishment, the Trust has successfully restored thousands of hectares of forest, maintained critical wildlife corridors, and significantly reduced human-wildlife conflict in the region. Their work has helped protect vital water resources for millions of downstream users while supporting sustainable livelihoods for communities around the mountain.
