Madagasikara Voakajy (MV) has advanced conservation in Madagascar through applied research, helping downlist the golden mantella frog from "Critically Endangered" to "Endangered." MV also played a key role in establishing Protected Areas, securing habitats for species like Grandidier’s baobab and Tarzan’s chameleon.

Madagasikara Voakajy is a leading Malagasy conservation organization working to protect the country’s unique biodiversity through scientific research and community-based conservation. Their work focuses on threatened endemic species and their habitats while supporting sustainable development in local communities.

The organization runs multiple integrated programs including: species monitoring and research; protected area management; community-based conservation initiatives; and sustainable resource use projects. They work closely with local communities to develop conservation strategies that protect both wildlife and critical habitats while supporting alternative livelihoods.

Through their efforts, Madagasikara Voakajy has successfully established new protected areas, improved the conservation status of numerous threatened species, and helped communities develop sustainable natural resource management systems. Their research has contributed significantly to understanding Madagascar’s biodiversity while their community programs have demonstrated effective approaches to conservation in challenging contexts.

Maliasili exists to help talented local conservation organizations overcome their challenges and constraints so that they can become more effective agents of change in their landscapes, communities, and nations.
