KWCA serves as the national umbrella organization for Kenya’s wildlife conservancies, representing and supporting a growing movement that has transformed conservation across the country. They work to strengthen and expand Kenya’s conservancy model, which has become a crucial component of national wildlife conservation efforts.
The organization provides various support services including: policy advocacy and representation; capacity building and technical support; knowledge sharing and networking; and resource mobilization assistance. They work to strengthen the enabling environment for conservancies while helping individual conservancies improve their effectiveness and sustainability.
Under KWCA’s leadership, Kenya’s conservancy movement has grown to over 160 conservancies covering more than 6 million hectares and benefiting over 700,000 households. Their work has helped establish conservancies as a recognized and effective conservation approach while ensuring communities benefit from wildlife conservation.
