IRDNC is Namibia’s leading community conservation organization, pioneering approaches that have transformed the country’s conservation landscape. Working across Namibia’s communal conservancies, they have helped develop a model of community-based natural resource management that has become internationally renowned.
The organization implements integrated programs including: conservancy development and support; natural resource management; sustainable enterprise development; and human-wildlife conflict mitigation. Their approach emphasizes building local institutions and capacity for effective wildlife and natural resource management while creating tangible benefits from conservation.
Over three decades, IRDNC has helped establish and support over 80 communal conservancies, covering more than 16 million hectares and benefiting over 200,000 rural residents.
