Forest of Hope Association (FHA) works to protect Rwanda’s remaining natural forests through innovative community-based conservation approaches. Operating in the buffer zones of critical forest habitats, they focus on creating sustainable solutions that benefit both local communities and wildlife.
The organization runs multiple integrated programs including: forest protection and restoration initiatives; sustainable agriculture development; environmental education; and alternative livelihood projects. They work closely with local communities to develop forest-friendly enterprises, implement agroforestry systems, and build capacity for long-term forest stewardship.
Since its establishment, FHA has successfully protected thousands of hectares of forest habitat, established numerous community-based enterprises, and significantly reduced pressure on forest resources. Their work has helped protect endangered species including chimpanzees and golden monkeys, while improving livelihoods for hundreds of families living around protected forests.
