Power & Partnerships: We convened 175 individuals from 90 organizations in 20 countries, including 40 portfolio partners, participants from international organizations, and funders.
The event explored ways to shift power to African conservation organizations through stronger partnerships and courageous leadership. A key result of the Forum was the Naivasha Vision, which articulates a set of principles covering funding, community rights, various types of partnerships, and diversity, equity and inclusion.
“By placing people and their rights at the centre of our work, we are building a just, progressive environment for African conservation. Local leaders and organizations have the power and agency to advance their work with the support of partners from across the globe through equitable partnerships that are closing the funding gap to achieve greater conservation impact.”
The vision was endorsed by over 60 organizations. We believe this event served as a major milestone in building a collective voice and the potential for greater influence amongst a growing network of African community conservation leaders.
