Herp Conservation Ghana leads innovative efforts to protect Ghana’s diverse amphibian and reptile species through research, community engagement, and habitat conservation. Operating across the country’s most critical herpetological habitats, they work to ensure the survival of these often-overlooked species while supporting sustainable development in local communities.
Their programs encompass multiple areas including: species monitoring and research; habitat protection; community education and engagement; and sustainable resource management. They work closely with local communities to develop conservation strategies that protect both wildlife and critical forest habitats while supporting alternative livelihoods that reduce pressure on natural resources.
The organization has made significant contributions to amphibian and reptile conservation in West Africa, discovering new species, establishing protected areas, and implementing successful community conservation programs. Their work has helped protect numerous threatened species while building local capacity for long-term conservation management.
